Great read! I had not made the connection between TikTok and the mind spinning tornado of student protests against Israel the day after 10/7. I have to admit, I am on TikTok, I only use it to post the trailers to my Radical Metal interviews on YouTube. I like TikTok only in that it seemed less of a slave to the algorithm and, ironically, more democratic about exposing posts to everyone. However, I would hardly call me invested in this. I do share some empathy towards those who have made a living on the platform as this is what I am trying to do with YouTube. It is the big dream so I can quit the day job and empathize with “whatever it takes!” After reading this I will likely close my account. Let me marinate on it for a day. Again, great piece!
