Yes, he was a solid thinking American. It's a shame that he passed away as Camille Paglia appeared on the public stage. Together, they both might have created more of a bulwark against the rising flood of political correctness. And even though I often disagreed with their positions, Zappa and Paglia had a gene that really sought out the truth in life, and a fearlessness against the opportunists and conformists.
