So I’m hijacking my buddy
’s Music Morning feature again. And the reason is because in honor of our Jewish friends’ holiday I wanted to encourage everyone to give “The Prince of Egypt” another watch.A few weeks back, in honor of the movie’s 25th anniversary, I wrote a short brief for Jewish News Syndicate in which I interviewed a rabbi who had advised on the film. He noted its influence on contemporary Jewish celebrations of Pesach:
“The ancient rabbis taught that we are commanded to see ourselves in every generation as though we personally had left Egypt as part of the Exodus,” Burton Visotzky, a rabbi and professor, told JNS.
“For this past generation, tens of thousands were able to do this thanks to the artistry of the DreamWorks animated feature ‘The Prince of Egypt,’ ” added Visotzky, professor emeritus of midrash and interreligious studies at the Jewish Theological Seminary and a consultant to the 1998 production. “I have visited communities across America where families have the custom to watch the film every Passover. ‘Prince of Egypt’ delivers us to the promised land.”
At the very least please enjoy this fantastic piece of music from it:

While I personally think "Playing With the Big Boys" is the best musical number in Prince of Egypt, as I have gotten older I have found it surprisingly moving the way that Mi'cha Mo'cha is woven into that song as the Israelites are walking out of Egypt.
Agree to disagree. The best song was "Deliver Us," featuring the legendary Ofra Haza.
