As much as the 1960s were a time of “alternative spirituality” and the introduction of Eastern religions to a generation, one doesn’t need to dig that deep to find affirmations of the Western faith traditions too.
Norman Greenbaum’s “Spirit in the Sky” is probably my favorite to revisit this Easter as we commemorate and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth, a defeat of death.

Gotta have a friend in Jesus
So you know that when you die
He's gonna recommend you
To the spirit in the sky (spirit in the sky)
