Elon Musk Is a Disgusting Antisemite Who Is Helping Hamas
The far right billionaire man-child's changes to an already flawed website made it easier for Russia, Iran, China, and Islamist terrorists to spread their disinformation.
This is the 3rd installment of the new “Axis of Genocide” series at this Zionist Substack, the successor to the “Antisemitism and Culture” series which can be read in two 30-essay collections here and here.
This new series will document and analyze the antisemitic genocidal war waged against Israel by the Hamas terrorist group and its primary supporter, the Islamic regime in Iran. The accomplices in this attempt at a second Holocaust — Vladimir Putin’s criminal-gangster state in Russia and the authoritarian regime in China — will also come in for scrutiny and loud condemnation, as will the non-state actors supporting them, particularly the international Muslim Brotherhood propaganda network, and radical activists of both the far left and the far right. You can find a list of previous installments at the end of this post. Thank you for your support.
A person is not defined by what they say or what they think, but by what they do.
We cannot know what anyone truly thinks and we cannot know if what they speak is what they truly believe. All we can truly know to assess another person’s character is what we can see them do.
Thus, Elon Reeve Musk, the world’s wealthiest man, is an antisemite. He is today’s Henry Ford and his X website is The Dearborn Independent, only now the antisemitic conspiracism spreads far faster and is far more violent.
This can be explained very simply.
If a book publisher chose to release a title promoting Holocaust denial, would you believe him if he insisted he was not an antisemite?
If a film studio chose to make and distribute a film promoting Hamas and explicitly advocating its genocidal goals, would you not regard that company as antisemitic?
If some cable TV “pundit” held up that book and recommended that documentary, but insisted they did not hate Jews themselves, would you take them at their word? How would you regard a cable network which regularly featured him and others saying the same things?
So then, why should anyone trust Space Karen (to borrow my friend
’s apt descriptor) when he insists he is not racist or antisemitic, since Dead Bird Site is now the equivalent of all three of the above? You’ve got written Holocaust denial, videos of Hamas propaganda, and then plenty of wannabe “pundits” paying $8/month to Musk to promote both.We want to try and delude ourselves that the so-called “social media” of these emotionally-manipulative websites is somehow fundamentally different than the “traditional media” of books, films, and television. Just because 1996’s Section 230 law currently limits the ability to sue a company hosting lies and hate, that does not make the website Facebook and the website formerly known as Twitter fundamentally different than The New York Times or Netflix. They’re all just websites offering text and video.
I have to keep saying this over and over again:
THESE ARE JUST WEBSITES!!!!!!
There is no such thing as “social media.” There are only “social media websites.”
What social media websites are is not fundamentally different than the do-it-yourself websites that lots of us built in the late ‘90s on Geocities and AOL. It’s the same thing, just more complex, malevolent, and dead-set on making billions of dollars no matter who gets hurt in the process. You pull it up in a web browser and read just as you would anything else. You pull up a Hamas propaganda video on your phone and watch it just as you’d watch the newest Marvel movie.
What’s the key difference then?
With social media, the people running the company have publishing standards that could not be lower. That’s it. The social media sites choose to just allow people to throw up whatever they want since Section 230 says they legally can, whereas for a “traditional” publisher like what we’re doing here at God of the Desert Books, we carefully select the few people we can trust and then scrutinize their writing to insure it’s of a high quality and they’re not saying something which will end in a lawsuit.
On these websites the hate gushes forth like a shattered sewer line. The sites claim that they are working to try and prevent this. But let’s be real: that’s total bullshit. If they really cared about making a safer product they would - but then the amount it would cost to actually do that would be so absurdly over the top that these websites would likely not be profitable.
Oh! I forgot! Dead Bird Site already isn’t profitable!
So to return now to Scrooge MuskDuck and what he has chosen to allow at his publication, consider this article from Friday in The New York Times, describing “The Consequences of Elon Musk's Ownership of X.”
A few points from it to consider:
This conflict between the genocidal terrorist Hamas and the Jewish state acts as a “stress test” of the new site Musk wanted. And what are the results?
The conflict has captured in full how much the platform has descended into the kind of site that Mr. Musk had promised advertisers he wanted to avoid on the day he officially took over.
“With disinformation about the Israel-Hamas conflict flourishing so dramatically on X, it feels that it crossed a line for a lot of people where they can see — beyond just the branding change — that the old Twitter is truly gone,” Tim Chambers of Dewey Square Group, a public affairs company that tracks social media, said in an interview. “And the new X is a shadow of that former self.”
….
“The entire year’s worth of changes to X were fully stress tested during the global news breaking last week,” Mr. Chambers said, referring to the conflict in Israel. “And in the eyes of many, myself included, it failed utterly.”
Musk’s changes to the platform to allegedly increase “free speech” have resulted in an explosion of antisemitism, hate, and authoritarian regimes’ espionage efforts by multiple analyses:
Research conducted in part by the Institute for Strategic Dialogue concluded that anti-Semitic tweets in English more than doubled after Mr. Musk’s takeover. A report from the European Commission found that engagement with pro-Kremlin accounts grew 36 percent on the platform in the first half of this year after Mr. Musk lifted mitigation measures.
One can identify easily which of Musk’s changes have boosted bigotry and rogue states:
Mr. Musk disbanded an advisory council focused on trust and safety issues and laid off scores of employees who addressed them. For a monthly fee, he offered users a blue checkmark, a label that once conveyed that Twitter had verified the identity of the user behind an account. He then used algorithms to promote accounts of uncertain provenance in users’ feeds. He removed labels that identified government and state media accounts for countries like Russia and China that censor independent media.
…
Among his first acts as the site’s owner was to reverse the bans on thousands of accounts, including those of users who had promoted the QAnon conspiracy theory and spread disinformation about Covid and the 2020 presidential election.
The impact was instantaneous. Researchers at Tufts, Rutgers and Montclair State universities documented spikes in the use of racial and ethnic slurs soon after Mr. Musk’s acquisition. One research institute found that a campaign on 4chan, a notorious bulletin board, encouraged the use of a particular slur within hours of his arrival, in what seemed to be a coordinated test of the new owner’s tolerance for offensive speech.
Musk wants people to believe that his website is a reliable source of information, yet even he regularly shares disinformation:
Keeping X at the center of public debate is exactly Mr. Musk’s goal, which he describes at times with a messianic zeal. The day after Hamas attacked Israel, Mr. Musk urged his followers to follow “the war in real time.”
He then cited two accounts that are notorious for spreading disinformation, including a false post in the spring that an explosion had occurred outside the Pentagon. Faced with a flurry of criticism, Mr. Musk deleted the post and later sounded chastened.
The decision to implement the $8/month for a blue badge and its corresponding extra promotion in the algorithm has further exacerbated the spread of lies:
Reset, a nonprofit research organization, discovered that dozens of anonymous accounts linked to the Kremlin received the checkmark, pushing Russian narratives on the war in Ukraine. This spring, the platform also removed the labels that identified official state media of countries like Russia, China and Iran. In the 90 days after the change, engagement with posts from the English-language accounts of those outlets soared 70 percent, NewsGuard, a company that tracks online misinformation, reported in September.
What does this all amount to? 166 antisemitic posts — which would land citizens of many European countries in jail — were seen 23 million times:
Reset, the research organization, reported recently that it had documented 166 posts that its researchers considered antisemitic. Many appeared to violate laws in several European countries, including calls for violence against Jews and denying the historical facts of the Holocaust. They accumulated at least 23 million views and 480,000 engagements.
And what does Musk think of all this? It’s just a fuckin’ joke. Check out his recent jokes about the Israel-Hamas war which made even Joe Rogan uncomfortable. This son of a bitch is grinning and guffawing all the way to the bank.
What’s the solution to this problem? It’s very simple and has been very well-known for years but none of the social media website companies will ever want to do it. Mega-investor Bill Ackman made it clear:
“fix the algorithms so that we are able to find a common ground.”
HA!
lays it all out in greater depth in his debut Substack post, a partial transcription of an excellent 41-minute monologue on his Team Human podcast: Just as creating a proper moderation system would cost way too much money, this type of change in the algorithm toward encouraging peace instead of war would result in: people staying on the site for less time, thus seeing fewer ads, thus adding no money at all to Musk’s current $220.7 billion fortune.
Have I made clear at this point how this works? Let’s put it simply:
The wealthiest man in the world has decided to try and make more money by providing a platform for bigots to spread their hate, spies to spread their disinformation, and all its users to spread their inflamed emotions.
And why has he done this? What’s his end goal here? He’s been clear about this - it’s an obsession he’s had for over 20 years - a website called “X” which can do everything that other sites already do. Here’s what he said on a call with his employees recently:
We’re rapidly transforming the company from what it was, Twitter 1.0, to the everything app. [An] all-inclusive feature set that you can basically do anything you want on our system. Obviously, that’s not to the exclusion of other apps, but I think the fundamental thing that’s missing that would be incredibly useful is a single application that encompasses everything. You can do payments, messages, video, calling, whatever you’d like, from one single, convenient place.
The overwhelming stupidity of this plan should be readily apparent to anyone who thinks about it for a minute. It’s as dumb as naming your kid “X” and having 11 children with 3 different women (so far.)
Hey Elon, we already have a “single, convenient place” to “do payments, messages, video, calling, whatever you’d like.” Know what it’s called?
A fucking cell phone!
This is just so endlessly infuriating to me. So much time, so much money, so much attention has been wasted on a billionaire man-child’s plans to create an “app” (which is really just a name for a fancier website) that nobody needs!
Is it really that hard to jump from one app to another? Why do I need to do banking, instant messaging, buying stuff, and calling people from one single program on the phone? When all of the various already-existing platforms are already sufficient for these purposes?
It’s as though Musk is wanting to create a cable channel that has everything on it. Or a book with everything printed in it. Why? Why does he want everything?
Idolatry of a particular type: Narcissism.
Musk worships himself. And he wants everyone to join him in order to try and fill the God-shaped blackhole in his soul.
