[Typed the mornings of September 20-21, 2022 from notes written in crayon the previous week while on an involuntary hold at the psych ward at Pacific Grove Hospital in Riverside, California after a ketamine infusion therapy to treat the PTSD went bad, leaving the Poet more suicidal and self-hating than before it began, prompting the doctor to insist on a “5150” 72-hour hold.]

7:15 AM

That false prophet Joel Osteen preaching platitudes 
                                                       and childish metaphors in the TV room.
Sun’s favorite channel apparently.

I asked the dining room to be opened early to escape 
                            but his words creep over 
                                           like pollution from a smokestack

Nauseating

I get out today.

Charlie just came in and I wrote my email for him and told him to be in touch after he got out.

I showed him the letter Sally wrote me 
                             and answered his question of the 
first thing I’d do when getting out: 
                             give my fiancée a big kiss.

“I love you, man – no homo,” he said walking out.

“Love to you too, Charlie,” I said.

And then I was alone again.

9:05 AM

Took a shower and used soap for the shampoo.

Put on my Munch Scream socks and Big Lebowski t-shirt

Got Lynch’s Catching the Big Fish back from Beatriz 
                                     who said she liked it and would get her own copy on the outside.

Now to wait for the social workers to process my paperwork.


10:30ish AM

Was in the group session but feeling exhausted from the Thorazine.

Back to bed while I await the social workers to finish my discharge.


12:33 PM

Taquitos for lunch.

Just called Sally and she’s 50 minutes away

Can’t wait to see her.

Just a bit of paperwork left.


1:07 PM

I’ve signed all my paperwork so I’m officially discharged

Just have to wait on social worker now.

I can’t buy a gun for five years.

Oh well.
